The Australian Plugs also called as Type I plug has three flat pins, Live and neutral pins forming a V-shape and a straight grounding pin. The distance between the centre of the grounding pin and the middle of the plug is 10.31 mm. A standard 10 ampere plug will fit into a 15 ampere socket but not the other way around. The shank of the active and neutral pins of every 10 ampere flat-pin plug is insulated, in accordance with AS/NZS 3112 such that when plug is not fully inserted into the socket, touching the exposed parts can’t give you the shock. These Plugs are used in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Argentina and many other countries. The Australian plug also works with sockets in China.
